If you’ve been following ExpatDen for a while, this event might not seem like your kind of thing. NomadFest Bangkok (November 20 to 22, 2025) is mostly for creators, people who want to shoot better Reels, grow YouTube channels, or master TikTok.
That’s not really why most people read ExpatDen. But there’s more to this event than social media workshops, and a few of you might actually get a lot out of it. Here’s why I’m going and why you might want to join me.

Who’s Writing This
I’m Karsten Aichholz, founder of ExpatDen. What started as a small niche blog has grown into one of the most comprehensive expat information sites on the web.
Before that, I ran several online businesses generating millions in annual revenue. These days I also advise other expat-run companies on how to build sustainable, profitable operations.
I’m not selling a course, a “personal brand,” or a lifestyle. I build online businesses that pay the bills and I enjoy helping others do the same.
Why NomadFest Is Worth Checking Out
NomadFest brings together over 200 people who earn their income online, from creators and freelancers to founders and investors. It’s one of the few regional events that bridge creative work with actual business building.
Some of the names you’ll hear from include:
- Kash Bhattacharya – turned his travel blog into a six-figure consulting brand
- John Baumgartner – founder of HipTraveler, a travel-tech platform that’s profitable and growing
- John Ho – creator of Alt Chiang Mai and a pioneer of Southeast Asia’s coliving movement
Beyond the creator sessions, you’ll find talks on monetization, audience growth, and building long-term online income, all things that shaped how ExpatDen itself works behind the scenes.
Who This Event Isn’t For
NomadFest probably isn’t for you if you’re looking for:
- Visa or tax briefings
- Traditional employment paths
- A weekend with zero mentions of social media
Who This Event Is For
But if any of these sound familiar, it might be perfect:
- You’ve ever thought, “I could build something like ExpatDen for my own niche.”
- You’re curious how online expat businesses actually make money.
- You want to meet people living independently and sustainably abroad.
What I’m Offering ExpatDen Readers
During NomadFest, I’ll host 1-on-1 office hours, 25-minute sessions over coffee.
Bring your business idea, website, or just your plan to start something new. I’ll walk you through the next three steps I’d take if I were in your shoes.
Slots are first-come, first-serve. Once I’ve hit my caffeine limit (I’m cutting off at 10 coffees), that’s it.
I’ll also hold a private rooftop roundtable, limited to 20 people, covering:
- How ExpatDen generates income (traffic, affiliates, paid contributors)
- Our structure: legal setup, tax model, tools, and team workflow
- What’s worked, what hasn’t, and what I’d do differently if starting today
The Details
- Regular ticket price:
$249 - Current promo:
$175 - ExpatDen readers get 30% off with code safeandnotsorry ($122.50 total)
Grab your ticket at NomadFestCreator.com. Then forward your receipt to [email protected] with “OFFICE HOURS” or “ROOFTOP” in the subject line to reserve your slot.
Half the conference may be about social media growth, but the real value lies in the people you meet between sessions, people quietly building meaningful businesses and lives abroad.
See you in Bangkok,
Karsten
Founder, ExpatDen
A Final Note
Your 25-minute session doesn’t have to be about business. If you’d rather talk about your expat situation, such as taxes, visas, relocation planning, or where to live, that’s perfectly fine. Sometimes the most valuable $122.50 you’ll spend is getting a clear answer to a question that’s been bugging you for months.
And if office hour slots fill up, don’t worry. Every ExpatDen reader who buys a ticket will get a free 25-minute Zoom consultation with me after the event. You’re covered either way.
