Online shopping in Thailand is getting bigger every year.
Now you can buy almost anything on the internet and have it shipped right to your home.
Prices can even be cheaper than offline shopping. And you can sometimes get discounts of over 30% if you buy on the right day.
Shopping Day
Two of the biggest online shopping websites in Thailand, Shopee and Lazada, often run major promotions. Previously, the best-known campaigns were November 11 and December 12.
These campaigns now commonly include double-digit sales, such as January 1, February 2, March 3, April 4, May 5, June 6, July 7, August 8, September 9, October 10, November 11, and December 12. Exact discounts and participating products change by platform and campaign.
They usually call it a shopping day.
They may also run mid-month, payday, or platform-specific campaigns with similar promotions to the shopping day.
Unless you need to urgently buy something, it is recommended to wait and buy it during these days.
How Does It Work?
A few days before those promotions run, you can go to their websites and collect coupon codes.
Then you can use these coupon codes to give you an additional discount in addition to the usual discount that many sellers give during those promotions.
There are two types of codes you can collect:
- Coupon codes from sellers
- Coupon codes from the shopping website.
These codes can sometimes be used together, depending on the terms of each promotion.
Normally, there are certain products that the seller will offer a discount on during the shopping day promotion. You can check this from the comments section. Some people who buy that product will post a comment on how much of a discount they got.
How Much is the Discount?
It varies between each month and each promotion. Sometimes it’s a 5% discount. Other times it can be over 30%.
I bought a cordless vacuum cleaner for only 4,000 baht while the usual price was 6,000 baht and a USB cable at only 39 baht from the normal price of 159 baht using this method.
How to get an Additional Discount?
If you buy from Shopee, you may get additional discounts using ShopeePay, depending on current promotions. It is Shopee’s e-wallet service in Thailand, and top-up and payment options can change in the app.
With ShopeePay, you may see free-shipping vouchers or additional discounts during the shopping day promotion, depending on the campaign terms.
What’s the Difference Between Shopee and Lazada?
Lazada has long been one of Thailand’s biggest online shopping sites. However, Shopee is also very widely used.
Some shoppers prefer Shopee because its interface is more intuitive. They also have better support in case of problems with your order.
On the other hand, Lazada can be cheaper and supports English better than Shopee. As with any marketplace, fake or low-quality products can appear. You should only buy from legit sellers.
How to Safely Buy From Online Shopping Websites?
Shopee, Lazada, and other online shopping websites in Thailand are usually online marketplaces.
Anyone can open a shop and sell there. So it is important to choose the right seller in order to get the product you want.
Here are some key tips:
- Reviews are very important. The seller should have a lot of good reviews.
- Look at the seller name and make sure it has some relevance with the product you are buying.
- Look at other products provided by this seller. These products should be within the same category.
- In the case of a gadget or electronic device, buy from official sellers. This is to make sure the product is genuine, and so that you can get a guarantee similar to buying at their physical stores.
By the way, HomePro has its own mobile application and online store, which can have similar promotions to Shopee and Lazada.
Prices can sometimes be cheaper than buying from a physical HomePro store. Delivery fees and free-delivery conditions depend on the item, location, and current promotion. This makes it another option for buying home decorations and appliances online.
