This map compares 38 Bangkok neighborhoods side by side. Click any area to see what it costs to live there, how long the train takes to Asok, Silom or the airports, which international schools and hospitals are close, and how it held up in the big floods. Use it to shortlist two or three areas, then read our full guide for each one.
How to Use the Map
- Open an area. Click it on the map, or pick it from the dropdown. You’ll get its pros and cons, our ratings, train times, nearby schools and hospitals, and its flood record.
- Compare one thing at a time. “Color by” shades every area by a single measure, such as cost of living, nightlife, flood risk or train time to Silom.
- Narrow it down. Filters fade out the areas that don’t fit: a budget cap, a maximum train time, an international school within 3km, or no higher-risk flood areas.
- See them all at once. Switch to List to get all 38 areas in a table you can sort by cost, food, nightlife, green space, train time or flood risk.
How We Rated Each Area
Cost of living, the lifestyle scores and the “good for” scores are our team’s judgement. We compared all 38 areas against each other, and each score comes with a one-line note on why it got that rating.
The practical scores are worked out from data:
- Train times run from the area’s best BTS, MRT or rail station, including changes and a few minutes’ wait. Add your walk to the station.
- Healthcare counts the international hospitals within easy reach of the middle of the area.
- Public transport looks at time to the center, the number of lines, and how easy it is to reach the airports and long-distance terminals.
- Flood risk comes from our guide to Bangkok’s flood-free neighborhoods, which rates each area on how it did in the 2011 and 2026 floods.
Street maps, stations, malls and markets come from OpenStreetMap. International schools come from the International Schools Association of Thailand directory and the schools’ own websites. Street-flooding spots come from Bangkok Metropolitan Administration open data.
