Ahead of the full procession on 6 November, the Royal Thai Navy runs a series of rehearsals on the Chao Phraya, and the public is welcome to watch from either bank.
The 2 October rehearsal is one of the early run-throughs, with the barges and oarsmen working the route between Krung Thon Bridge and Wat Arun. Full-dress rehearsals with all 52 barges follow later in the month.
Watching is free and no ticket is needed. Arrive early for a spot along the riverside walkways, and expect river-boat services to be suspended for part of the afternoon.
